About Sheel

💀 An introduction to the simple anatomy of Sheel Davé. Right brain: The Creator. Left brain: The Manager. Heart: Amplifying the voice of the partner. Gut: Daring innovator, killer creative instincts, and eternal optimist. Spine: Building strong relationships, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and bringing in the right partners throughout the process.

🥁 When I was 17 years old, I had a dream of becoming a touring musician. Growing up as a first generation Indian American, my parents had a bit of a different vision for my future - so, we struck a deal. I poured my heart into my passion for music (with their moral support) and promised to go to college to get a formal, advanced education.

👨🏾‍💻 After earning my degree in business & music from Northeastern University (Boston), my dreams of being a professional musician came true and I toured the world with the band that I started called, Bad Rabbits. I also managed the band and ran its independent record label, which released an album that reached #1 on iTunes R&B charts, #10 Billboard Heat seekers, #12 Billboard R&B album, and #15 Billboard R&B/hip-hop albums.

🌐 Since my parents advised me to "never lose my day job," I learned what it meant to work from anywhere while running a successful, nationally recognized band and simultaneously cutting my teeth in the start up space, helping to build one of the fastest growing online fashion retailers, at the time. I was working with a WiFi hotspot on my laptop between cities, on an arena tour with Kendrick Lamar and Steve Aoki. I did everything from brand management, marketplace operations, customer success, merchandising, social media campaigns to brand partnerships (Red Bull, Converse, Jameson Whiskey, Marriott Hotels, New England Patriots). The highlight from this time was performing on several late-night TV shows, including Jimmy Kimmel and creating a successful independent streetwear fashion line.

🌱 In 2014, I decided to come back to my roots near Boston, MA. I linked up with my current colleagues and have spent the last 8 years building and scaling Gizmogul.com, an electronics trade-in solution & e-commerce company with a goal to create a more sustainable and circular mobile device industry. I currently lead the partnerships onboarding team for our $1B+ tier partners, using our first in market, white label, mobile device trade-in solution.

🎧 During this time, I vowed to never lose my creative spirit, and to never stop learning. In addition to making more music with my comrades, I continue to dig deep into the depths of the creator economy. While reminding myself with the thought that community moves faster than technology, I continue to find passion and adventure in new platforms and tools to really help the technology catch up to the community, which shapes the culture.

🌌 I believe that democratized communities & marketplaces will give creators, builders & collectors the platforms to really dive in to tell their story, securely share their work and financially support themselves. We are in the midst of a generational event and if I look the other way, I will be missing out on one of the greatest times in community building history. So, I am here to stay.
